How to prep your skin for your Colorado wedding makeup

Colorado’s climate can be killer for couples coming in from out of state! Especially if you are coming in from the south or the east coast. We are DRY out here, y’all. So it is extra important that your skin care is on point if you want your wedding day makeup to look flawless.

We definitely don’t want to leave this to the last minute either - this is a marathon, not a sprint. (especially if you already have some skin concerns that you are wanting to tackle.) Here are some of our favorite tips for the long term, and the short term, to make sure that your skin care game is on point and your wedding day makeup is perfect:

Long Term - 6-12 months in advance of the wedding day
1. First you will want to find a great esthetician in your area to help, but here are the treatments that we LOVE:
Hydrofacials
Dermaplaning
VI Peels
Aerolase Laser

Doing those with months of lead up time is going to be crucial because your skin will need time to heal/adjust, and you want to make sure that you leave time to complete a series of treatments. (Just doing any of these once isn’t going to be enough to get really great results!)
2. Make sure that you are using good skin care at home and being consistent with it! Our fave brands are:
Epicutis
Skin Better
IS Clinical

3. What you put in your body is just as important as what you put on it. Drink LOTS of water, limit your sugar, salt, and processed foods as much as you can. It’s honestly insane how much of a difference you’ll see just from this!

Short Term - days/week leading up to your wedding day
1. If you are flying into CO the week of your wedding, keep up on the water intake! This will be crucial to not only your skins appearance/hydration, but you will need it because we are so dry here. You’re going to feel dehydrated AF, sis.

2. If you can, dermaplane like 2 days before your wedding day. You don’t want it to be day of or the day before because you don’t want to clog your pores right after heavy exfoliation, but if you do it too far in advance you won’t really see the benefit of doing your wedding makeup on top of it.

3. Use the Epicutis lipid face mask the night before the wedding! Doing the dermaplane the day before and then using this…you are going to have the glass skin of your dreamsss.

We hope that these quick tips are helpful for getting started on your wedding skin care journey!
