Things we would NEVER do on the wedding morning…

There are so many things to think about when you are planning your wedding, and it can definitely be overwhelming to keep everything straight. As wedding hair and makeup professionals who have been a part of over 300 weddings, we have definitely learned a thing or two! Take it from us and keep these things in mind when planning your wedding morning:

  • Don’t let anyone other than your wedding hair and makeup professional make your getting ready timeline - While we love coordinating with your planner, photographer, etc., the only person who truly knows how long hair and makeup services will take is your stylist or artist. Trust us to keep things on track!

  • Don’t get ready too far away from your venue - Longer travel times = earlier start times, and no one wants to stress about traffic delays or messing up your hair on the back of the car seat. It is so much less stressful to either have everything in the same place (getting ready, ceremony, reception, etc.) than it is to get ready 30 plus minutes away from your venue.

  • Don’t let your bridesmaids do their own hair and makeup - Okay, okay. We know that this one sounds like a biased opinion. BUT we’d want them to fully enjoy the celebration without worrying about their appearance! AND it is quite easy to pick out those who have gotten professional services done and those who have not…just saying.

  • Don’t underestimate the amount of time that you need - Everyone wants things to be done efficiently and in a timely manner, but that does not mean that we can sacrifice quality! We set aside at least 1 hour per service for the bride or celebrant and 40 minutes per attendant service and do not compromise on timing. You are hiring us to look your best and we cannot do that in half of the time.

  • Don’t overlook the value of natural lighting in your getting ready space - If capturing your wedding morning in the best light is a priority, choose a getting-ready space with plenty of natural light—it will make all the difference in your photos! Plus, it’s essential for your hair and makeup team to work their magic. We do bring our own lighting equipment to help with getting it just right, but it certainly will make a difference to already be in a well lit space.

We would love to know if any of these things were surprising to you, or if you have questions! Give us a follow on Instagram and let’s start a conversation!
